Before you start

An active practical-nursing licence or a clear plan for obtaining one.
Your transcripts and an approximate list of completed prerequisites.

Step by step

Start with the regulator, not a search ad
Find the official list of approved RN programs for your jurisdiction. Remove any program that cannot clearly explain how its graduates become eligible for RN registration where you plan to work.

Request a real transfer-credit assessment
Ask each school which courses and clinical hours transfer from your PN education. Do not compare advertised program length until you know your personal starting point.

Calculate total cost
Include tuition, fees, books, travel, unpaid clinical time, reduced shifts and childcare. Then subtract confirmed grants, employer funding and paid education leave.

Pressure-test the schedule
Ask which courses are synchronous, when clinical placements occur, how far students travel and whether your work schedule can realistically coexist with the program.

Speak with two recent bridge students
Ask the program to connect you with graduates, then ask what surprised them, what delayed them and what support was actually available when life happened.
